Review of MEDIUM IN THE MIDDLE by Rob Preece

    BooksForABuck.com, June 2010

Medium in the Middle by Rob Preece cover Annie Neeter thinks she's lucky to have escaped a crazed gunman...until the police decide she is connected to the assault. After all, they reason, she was talking to someone, and there was nobody there but her, the victim and the man with the gun. Annie knows what happened, they heard her talking to one of the ghosts who constantly pester her. Explaining that to sexy detective Arran Dane is scary, though. Annie really doesn't want to see the look on his face change to pity when he realizes he's talking to a woman who thinks she sees ghosts.

Unlike Arran and the rest of the police force, Russian Mafia boss Ivan Petrov believes in ghosts. He threatens and blackmails Annie into using her communications to help him. Now Annie needs to persuade the police to help her, and needs all the assistance she can get from the ghosts as well.

Author Rob Preece (see more BooksForABuck.com reviews of romance, fantasy and science fiction by Rob Preece) writes a charming story about a woman with a problem nobody believes (she can't even drive because she can't tell the difference between living pedestrians and ghostly visitors), a cop who's too sexy for his own good, and the Texas Volunteer Ghost Cavalry who decide to help out...but only in exchange for more of Annie's time and attention than she can spare. Preece combines humor with action and romance in a page-turning read. (See also the review by author Michael Paulson).
