Reece Remington is just in Port Clara for a few weeks--long enough to set up the books for his cousin who's opening a fishing charter service. Then he'll be back to New York, where his accounting talents keep the family business going strong. But when the manager of the B&B where he's staying falls and breaks her hip, he's roped into staying a bit longer and helping out. After all, the only alternative is Sara Kaufman. Sara may be the sexiest woman Reece knows, but she's flighty and she doesn't even have a car.

Sara Kaufman tried flirting with Reece, bu the man doesn't even seem to notice she exists. Besides, he's a bit too conservative for her wild tastes. Still, when she needs him, when her much-loved friend hurts herself, Reece shows that he's the kind of guy who can be counted on. Sara has had a lot of experiences, but one experience she's definitely not familiar with is finding a guy who can be counted on. Still, in the long term, Reece is going away and Sara is not cut out to be a New York corporate wife--not that anyone asked her.

Both of them know that their relationship is a fling, a short term affair--but neither can help wondering whether it mightn't have been the real thing.

Author Kara Lennox (see more BooksForABuck.com reviews of novels by Lennox) continues her charming Second Son series with the story of a man who is just a little too driven, a little too much by the numbers, and a little too used to being the go-to guy. For Reece, a woman who's willing to live in the moment, who's able to change plans, make new plans and especially to discover the joy every moment of the day brings is eye-opening. For Sara, responsibility has always been for someone else, but she discovers she enjoys running the B&B and wonders whether she might not be ready to settle down a little--if only she could settle down with the right guy. Lennox combines strong emotion with a compelling look at how different people can find the magic that makes them right for one another.
